Family Science Night

Bring the whole family to an engaging series of science focused evenings. Over 4-weeks, be part of experiments covering physical, chemical, biological and earth and space science disciplines. The nights will provide families with entertaining and memorable avenues for exploring science. Open to all ages.
When: Every Thursday (8th November – 29th November) 5.30pm – 6.30pm

Cost: 4-week program – $80 per family
Week 1 – Macroinvertebrates
Be introduced to live terrestrial and aquatic macroinvertebrate. Discover how entomologists catch invertebrates. Use scientific equipment to track, examine and share your discoveries.
Week 2 – States of Matter
Investigate the properties and behaviour of chemicals. Explore reversible and irreversible changes and predict observations. Participate in hands-on investigations to form ‘slimy worms’ and make ‘water disappear’.
Week 3 – Creative Circuits
Use conductive and insulating dough to learn the basics of electrical circuits in a fun, hands-on way. Build electronic sculptures that light up, move, and make sounds.
Week 4 – Comets and Craters
Examine impact craters by varying the speed and mass of impacting objects. Explore the solar system with augmented reality.
